Clerk to Parliament Benedict Xaba’s statement suggesting that, those who bribed the newly elected Members of Parliament(MPs) for Senate seats are also equally guilty like the accused Legislators does not only undermine the integrity of Parliament but, a systematic incubation of corruption within a sensitive pillar in the governing structure of the country.
It should be noted that, Xaba whose integrity remains questionable, is not suggesting an investigation into the serious allegations but, is defending corruption and this, could only be an act of a equally corrupt person who was part of the corrupt political syndicate that manipulated the Senate elections.
The Clerk to Parliament, if he was not involved in all these allegations, was supposed to invite those who claimed to have paid bribes and then refer them to the relevant law enforcement agencies while dealing with the matter internally through internal investigations.
But alas,he decided to defend corruption, the Clerk to Parliament must be investigated and subsequently fired for these reckless statements.
Corruption is a serious crime that requires an investigation particularly, where the allegations emerged from a public institution.

Clerk to Parliament Benedict Xaba.
