Arts and Culture CEO Stantly Dlamini defends Isitha, Swazi Actor Zuka Ntshalitshali failed to qualify for a role that pays R18,000.00 per-month and compensated with an ‘extra’ that pays R700.00 per-call.

MBABANE:Stantly Dlamini, the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture(ENCAC) has defended Isitha Producers saying, emaSwati are not exploited in South Africa.

It has been disclosed that, Swazi Actor Antony ‘Zuka’ Ntshalitshali who returned home was first offered a role “that pays eighteen thousand Rands(R18,000.00) per-month but after failing to qualify for it, the Producers subsequently offered him a minor role as an ‘extra’ a role that comes with seven hundred Rands(R700.00) per-call.

An extra is a part time on training Actor who “hardly appears on the screen and is paid whenever” there’s a need for “extras”.

Efforts to seek a comment from Isitha Producers proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

Responding to this Swaziland News on Sunday evening, the Arts and Culture CEO said, he was not aware that emaSwati are exploited by Isitha in South Africa adding that, to the best of his knowledge, Swati Actors are paid not less than R18,000.00.

On another note, when asked to clarify the matter, Swazi Actor ‘Zuka’ Ntshalitshali confirmed being offered  R18,000.00 but accused the Producers of changing the contract to R700.00 without telling him the reasons.

“That why I decided to leave because I was first offered R18,000.00 and then the amount changed to R700.00. Nangabe phela bengehluleka ngabe ngitjeliwe tizatfu kutsi seyehliselwani lemali”, he said.
