MBABANE:Teachers holding Degrees and permanently employed by Government might earn twenty-three thousand Rands(R23,000.00) per-month, Secretary General of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) Lot Vilakati confirmed to this Swaziland News on Saturday.
Vilakati said teachers with Diplomas might earn seventeen thousand Rands(R17,000.00) and as a union, they want Government to pay all teachers even those who are temporary employed, under the same scale.
“We want all teachers to be employed permanently and if Government is failing to do that, at least these teachers who are working on contracts, must be paid under the same scale. For example; if a temporal teacher is holding a Degree, that teacher must be paid the proposed R23,000.00 just like the permanently employed teacher because they are holding same qualifications and doing the same job,” said the SNAT Secretary General during an interview with this publication.
On another note, Vilakati said, SNAT will continue to advocate and negotiate better wages for teachers adding that, negotiations with Government are going on smoothly.
