BIG-BEND:Kwazi Sihlongonyane, the Big Bend Branch Secretary General of the Swaziland Agricultural Plantations Workers Union(SAPWU) is in hiding as tension escalates here at Crooks Plantations ahead of the strike action to commence this week.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Wednesday while in hiding at a nearby forest, the trade unionist said the Rangers who were with Manager Lucky Ngwenya and were allegedly contracted by the company to provide security, attempted to shoot and kill him.
“I ran away and disappeared”, he said.
Efforts to reach Crooks Plantations Manager Lucky Ngwenya proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
Crooks Plantations workers are highly expected to go on a strike this week, they are demanding a salary increment and improved working conditions.
It is alleged that, the Rangers were ordered to shoot and kill the trade union leaders and then pretend as if “it was a mistake”.
The Secretary General had gone to serve Manager Lucky Ngwenya with court papers when Manager Lucky Ngwenya allegedly unleashed the Rangers to shoot and kill, fortunately Sihlongonyane fled for safety.
Kwazi Sihlongonyane ran away Crooks Plantations Rangers attempted to shoot and kill him.
