MBABANE:King Mswati has urged the United Nations(UN) to recognize Taiwan as an independent State so that, Taiwan can contribute to realizing the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).
Addressing the UN General Assembly this week, the eSwatini King said Taiwan must be allowed to play a role in global development and be represented in the United Nations.
“The United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758, adopted in 1971, did not address the issue of Taiwan’s representation in the United Nations, and it does not preclude their participation in the UN system. The United Nations must seek suitable ways of including Taiwan so that she can better contribute to realising the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In that way, this will fulfil the UN mandate to ensure that no country is left behind,” he said.
