MBABANE:In commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, OncAura Wellness Centre located at Philani Clinic in Manzini has launched a discounted breast cancer and breast health screening program for women aged forty(40) and over, running through October 31, 2025.
The initiative offers mammograms, including ultrasound scans, at a reduced cost of R1,500, a nearly 30 percent discount from the standard price, with payments accepted via cash or medical aid cards to enhance accessibility.
Lindiwe Fokazi, Chief Operations Officer for Radiotherapy Services at OncAura, emphasised the importance of early detection, noting that breast cancer is highly treatable when identified early.
She encouraged wellness officers in public and private sectors to promote participation in this voluntary program and urged women to book appointments quickly due to expected high demand. Screenings will be conducted by a skilled team of radiologists, radiographers, a radiation oncologist, and a urologist, who will provide immediate preliminary reports.
Fokazi highlighted that breast cancer may not always show visible symptoms, making regular screenings vital for early intervention and empowering women to manage their health proactively. According to the World Health Organisation, about 2.3 million women are diagnosed with breast cancer annually, with early detection significantly improving survival rates.
Regular mammograms can detect abnormalities like lumps or calcifications before they are noticeable, especially for women over 40 or those with risk factors such as family history or genetic predispositions.
Formerly Swaziland Radiology Services, OncAura is poised to become a leading cancer treatment facility in Southern Africa, with plans to introduce comprehensive radiotherapy and chemotherapy services soon. The center currently screens for various cancers, including breast, cervical, lung, prostate, and colon. This initiative follows the success of OncAura’s June 2025 Pensioners Free Screening program, which served 300 elderly individuals, underscoring the community’s need for accessible healthcare.
The campaign aims to make screenings affordable while raising awareness about preventive healthcare.
Women and organisations can book appointments by contacting OncAura at 25052933 or 78029604, reinforcing the Centre’s commitment to improving women’s health outcomes through early detection and intervention.
