MBABANE:Kareem Ashraff, the troubled SwaziPharm Director who is implicated in the stealing of billions of public funds resulting in the shortage of drugs in public hospitals, is now eyeing to take over and fund Mbabane Swallows in an effort to clean his name and gain public trust.
Ashraff’s financial transactions suggest that, he started funding Mbabane Swallows in August 2025 and an investigation conducted by this Swaziland News uncovered that he is finalizing some documents that will result to him owning the football team.
In other countries, football teams and churches are used as a conduit for money-laundering and tax evasion, Ashraff is currently facing a high level investigation by the Eswatini Revenue Service(ERS).
Reached for comments by this publication, Knowledge Ngwenya, the Mbabane Swallows Public Relations Officer(PRO) confirmed that, Ashraff might soon take over the team but referred comments to Sandile Zwane.
“Sewuyitfolanjani lendzaba?. But I am not in a position to comment, this is handled at the highest level. Kindly contact the team’s elders, you can call Welile or Sandile Zwane”, said the PRO.
When this publication tried to contact Swazipharm Director Kareem Ashraff, he avoided questions regarding the matter.
On another note, it has been disclosed that, the Mbabane Swallows elders allegedly used the articles published by this Swaziland News, approached Ashraff and advised him that funding Mbabane Swallows will clean his name and emaSwati will love him.
Ashraff allegedly looted billions of public funds resulting in the shortage of drugs in public hospitals, dozens have died since the crisis erupted.
