MBABANE:Savannah Maziya, the eSwatini Minister of Information, Communications and Technology(ICT) secured military peacekeeping training for two(2) female soldiers, First Lt. Lomagugu Hlatshwako and Second Lt. Agape Simelane.
Addressing a press conference in Mbabane on Monday morning, the Information Minister who serves as the United Nations(UN) Global Chairperson for Sustainable Development Goal(SDG) 5 said, “the Dubai-United Arab Emirates(UAE) training forms part of the global project that seeks to empower women so that, they can occupy leadership positions”.
SDG 5 is the United Nations fifth Sustainable Development Goal that seeks to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
It also aims to eliminate discrimination, end violence and harmful practices, ensure access to sexual and reproductive health and rights, and further promote women's leadership and economic opportunities. This goal is considered a fundamental human right, essential for achieving a peaceful and prosperous world.
The soldiers will leave the country this week to Dubai for the training, Defense and State Security Principal Secretary(PS) Prince Sicalo was present to wish them a safe journey.
