MBABANE:Marwick Khumalo, the Lobamba Lomdzala Member of Parliament(MP) has warned Tourism and Environmental Affairs Minister Jane Mkhonta-Simelane against undermining Parliament.
Reacting to an article published by this Swaziland News earlier on Wednesday afternoon where Mkhonta was quoted in a report saying, Parliament Select Committee recommendations seeking to reverse the plastic ban are not binding, the Lobamba Lomdzala MP accused the Environmental Affairs Minister of trashing on Parliament.
“What an ignorant assertion by the Minister of Tourism?. The Select Committee recommends to the House not to her, and then the House decides on those recommendations. Once the House decides to adopt those recommendations, then that is a resolution of the House. I challenge anyone who knows it differently to come forward. The Minister who is being advised by naive and ignorant technocrats is exposing herself. Unfortunately, she too is equally ignorant and empty about Parliament procedures. After all, she hardly comes to Parliament. We will not allow her to trash Parliament,” said the MP.
On another note, the Tourism and Environmental Affairs Minister delivered an arrogant report, saying the Parliament Select Committee cannot force her to lift the plastic ban as the Committee’s recommendations are not legally binding.
