MBABANE:Army Commander Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze has accused Army Chief of Staff Major General Prince Vusummango of betraying him by confirming a story to editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.
The story published by this Swaziland News and subsequently formed part of a high level meeting within the Army Headquarters, was about soldier Edison ‘Mampondweni’ Tsabedze who was promoted by King Mswati for demonstrating bravery during “Incwala kubamba Inkunzi”.
But Mashikilisane Fakudze refused to implement the King’s order and promote the Incwala soldier, instead the Army Commander allegedly promoted those who bribed him.
“You betrayed me, you were not to supposed to confirm that you know the story when Zwemart called you”, said the Army Commander.
But the Army Chief of Staff told the Army Commander that, he wanted ‘Zwemart’ to get the entire truth so that he can report accurately.
“Most of the time when Zwemart contacts you for a comment, he is merely seeking your response after collecting evidence. Bekumele ngente njani-ke mine ye-Sir ngitsi angiyati indzaba ngibe ngiyati yafikela kimi ngakutjela kutsi eMakhosi asabusise naku. Kani sentani laMphini nasesitawuphikisa neMakhosi, order lekhishwe Makhosi sesiyeca ngetulu. Mine ngati kutsi order yeMakhosi ayiphikiswa wekhuta li-Bayethe”, said the Army Chief of Staff.
The Army meeting took place shortly after this Swaziland News published the story, Army Commander Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze even tried to stop Spokesperson Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo from responding to this publication and the Spokesperson said, she was employed to respond and defend the Army through the media.
Commander Fakudze allegedly divided the Executive Command of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force(UEDF) resulting in the breakdown in the administration of the military.
