MP Phila Buthelezi successfully moved a Parliament motion, no payment of school fees for last year.

LOBAMBA: Phila Buthelezi, the Deputy Speaker in the House of Assembly who doubles as Member of Parliament(MP) for Matsanjeni North successfully moved a motion to stop the Minister of Education Lady-Howard Mabuza from forcing parents to pay school fees for last year.

The motion was passed without being debated after almost all the Members of Parliament stood-up to express their full support for the motion, following the Parliament resolution, the Education Minister was also directed to issue a directive and make sure  parents who had already paid the school fees for last year were refunded their money with immediate effect.

“Halt with immediate effect the payment of the 2020 outstanding school fees and order for the reimbursement of the parents and guardians that have already paid” read the motion by MP Buthelezi that was seconded by MP Strydom Mpanza

Minister of Education Lady-Howard Mabuza promised to comply with the Parliament resolution as a matter of urgency, this was after MPs threatened to fire the Minister through a vote of no confidence.
