MBABANE:Nick Jackson, the Managing Director of the Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation(REScorp) has confirmed receiving a letter from King’s Liqoqo Advisory Council Chairman Paul Dlamini, directing him or the sugar company suspend payments due to widow ex-Senator Ndileka Dlamini amid family dispute.
This comes after this publication reported earlier on Monday that, the Liqoqo Chairman wrote to the Managing Director directing him to suspend the payments pending finalization of the matter, relatives of the former Senator’s husband are demanding a share of the millions.
“The King’s Advisory Council request your office to suspend the payment in respect of Mrs Ndileka Dlamini for sugar cane Farm 174 Mvuvulane under the name late Titus Dlamini. There’s a family dispute concerning the rightful authority to the family farm”, reads the letter in part.
Responding to this Swaziland News on Monday morning when asked to clarify the letter, the REScorp Managing Director said the payment was stopped not only as per the letter from the traditional authorities but, there’s a court order freezing the payment.
“Yes we received the letter. We are holding funds on the instruction of the court and then the traditional authorities. We will release the funds when instructed, after the rightful recipient has been determined. We are not involved in the determination. This is not the first time this kind of issue has happened. There are many disputes between farmers and we get caught in the middle. This is because of the flow of funds for sugar payments which start from the Sugar Association, then to us and then on to the Growers”, said the Managing Director.
