MBABANE:Jabulile Mashwama, the Managing Director of the Eswatini Water Services Corporation(EWSC) is collecting about two hundred Rands(R200.00) standard charge from poor and financially struggling emaSwati.
The money is payable to the State owned water company as a monthly standard fee whether the customer used the water or not and this resulted to more emaSwati struggling to afford the basic natural resource as sometimes the water bill “reached over one thousand Rands(R1000.00) per-month for poor and struggling families”.
Nomahlubi Matiwane, the Spokesperson of the State owned water company declined to comment amid public outcry regarding the expensive water.
On another note, Members of Parliament(MPs) expressed serious concerns regarding the expensive water, MPs urged the State owned water company to reduce the water tariffs.
