MBABANE:Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has congratulated Lesotho King Letsie on his Global Water-maker Award, Government online platforms reported.
The eSwatini Prime Minister was speaking during the National Celebration of King Letsie III’s Award in Maseru, Lesotho this week, he was representing King Mswati.
“This award signifies visionary leadership in advancing water security and regional cooperation through the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP). As we may all be aware, there is uneven distribution of water resources in the African continent. As a result, more than half of the population in Sub-Saharan Africa lack access to safe drinking water with only 63% of the SADC population having access to potable drinking water,” said the Prime Minister who returned from the Mountain Kingdom on Saturday.
King Letsie III was bestowed with the Presidential Award during the African Union-AIP Africa Water Investment Summit in August, in recognition of the contribution of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project to Sub-Saharan Africa’s water resources.
