MBABANE:Mayibongwe Masangwane, the Secretary General of the Swaziland Democratic Nurses Union(SWADNU) says more emaSwati will flood public hospitals for medical treatment amid scarcity of water in the country with the Eswatini Water Services Corporation(EWSC) increasing costs and limiting access to clean water.
The Water Services Corporation whose Managing Director is King Mswati’s mother-in-law Jabulile Mashwama, increased the costs of access to clean water triggering public outcry, more emaSwati across the country are struggling to afford water.
“It’s true that water is life and therefore water is a very important natural resource and that’s why water must be affordable and accessible. The human body needs water and this means, by limiting access to clean water, you are actually exposing more emaSwati to the high risk of contracting diseases. So you can imagine what will happen as the country is facing a health crisis amid shortage of drugs in public hospitals”, said the Nurses Union Secretary General.
