MBABANE:Thulani Mkhonto,the Mbabane Mayor has suspended Councillor Simangaliso Gama who was exposed by this Swaziland News for his alleged involvement in an alleged over one hundred thousand Rands(R100,000.00) fraudulent sale of land scandal.
The Councillor was investigated by an Independent Tribunal and the Tribunal recommended a dismissal verdict but, the Mayor exercised his discretion and reduced the sentence of dismissal to a suspension “considering the fact that, the Councillor is a first offender”.
Addressing journalists on Tuesday, the Mayor said Councillor Gama has been suspended for a period of sixty(60) days and removed from all Committees.
Councillor Gama was exposed by this publication earlier this year, the Mayor subsequently told this publication that, “the Mbabane Municipality will investigate the allegations”, Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Gciniwe Fakudze was present when the Mayor announced the verdict.
