MBABANE:Alpheous Nxumalo, the Government Spokesperson who is facing rape criminal charges has been formally informed by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini that, he won’t work as Spokesperson as his reputation has already been tainted.
The PM wants Nxumalo to act like a responsible and loyal citizen and protect the image of the King by understanding that, he can’t work as a Government Spokesperson while facing rape criminal charges because “the King will then face criticism”, Cabinet sources told this publication.
It has been disclosed that, during one of the meetings, the PM stated that, the decision to reject him was not personal but “seeks to protect the image of Their Majesties” and the country.
But the Prime Minister told this Swaziland News earlier that, Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo’s issue was still under discussion.
“It’s a matter we are working on, I’m currently consulting”, said the Prime Minister.
Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo is currently facing rape charges but, the Civil Service Commission(CSC) renewed his contract triggering public outcry and condemnation by women rights organizations.
