MBABANE:Former Public Enterprise Minister Malusi Gigaba has been charged with corruption but the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) says he has not been arrested amid reports suggesting that, he handed himself over to the police, the South African Broadcasting Corporation(SABC) reported on Friday.
Earlier reports said Gigaba handed himself to the police in Pretoria on Friday morning and the National Prosecuting Authority charged him with corruption, Gigaba’s lawyers have been meeting with officials from the IDAC in Pretoria, he was responding to summons from the National Prosecuting Authority.
“IDAC says it is engaging with the lawyers of Gigaba, who has not been arrested and will not appear in court on Friday.The charges against him relate to contracts including one for the procurement of locomotives worth multi-million-rand at Transnet”, the SABC reported.
