MBABANE:A new regional project that includes Eswatini titled “World Bank and Southern African Power Pool Partner to Expand Regional Power Trade” has just been approved by the board of the World Bank, the international financial institution said through a press release sent to this Swaziland News.
“The World Bank approved the RETRADE SAPP technical assistance project to expand and deepen the Southern African Power Pool’s regional electricity market, crowd in private capital for transmission, and increase market participation and liquidity. The $12 million package-comprising a $10 million IDA grant and a $2 million ESMAP grant-will support regional institutions and help prepare and implement World Bank-financed interconnector projects under the RETRADE-SA MPA, advancing renewable integration and affordability while contributing to AfSEM and Mission 300,” reads the press release in part.
