MBABANE:Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo, the Spokesperson of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force(UEDF) is urging members of the public who lost their livestock to contact the police.
This comes after soldiers caught suspects smuggling over one hundred goats this week, the Army Spokesperson told this Swaziland News on Saturday that suspects fled abandoning the goats.
“Live stock smuggling levels show an increase in boundaries of eSwatini.
Our own troops on patrol on the 5th November 2025 at around 16:45hrs around Gamula- Goboyane area intercepted four (4)males estimated to be between the ages of twenty-four (24) and thirty-five (35) respectively with one hundred and twenty three (123) suspected stolen goats. On interception despite warning shots fired the suspects fled the scene abandoning the goats. It Is said that the goats are stolen country wide and brought to this area driven in Honda Fit vehicles to be smuggled into South Africa”, she said.
On another note, the Army Spokesperson urged those who might have lost their goats to contact the police with evidence or proof of ownership.
“The Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) would on that note like to notify those that might have reported their goats missing to kindly contact the REPS; Lavumisa to be precise and bring proof to ldentify in this regard. The Defence Force assures its commitment to ensure a more than safe environment in all boundaries of eSwatini,” she said.
