MP Marwick Khumalo urges Finance Minister to lobby Cabinet to bring back Voluntary Retirement Scheme, says some civil servants want to retire early, establish businesses and contribute to economic growth and development.

MBABANE:Marwick Khumalo, the Lobamba Lomdzala Member of Parliament(MP) has urged Finance Minister Neal Rijikernberg to consider lobbying Cabinet to bring back the Enhanced Voluntary Early Retirement Scheme(EVERS) so that, willing civil servants could take their retirement benefits, establish businesses and contribute to economic growth and development.

The seasoned and long-serving MP who doubles as the Chairperson for the Finance Committee was speaking in Parliament this week.

“Willing civil servants must be allowed to take early retirement, be encouraged to establish businesses and contribute to economic growth and development,” said the MP.

Responding to the MP, Finance Minister Neal Rijikernberg said Government will soon encourage willing civil servants to take early retirement adding that, about four thousand(4000) redundant Government workers have been identified.
