MBABANE:Lucky Dlamini,the Coordinator of the Swaziland Unemployed People’s Movement(SUPMO) has applauded Lobamba Lomdzala Member of Parliament(MP) Marwick Khumalo for suggesting the re-implementation of the Enhanced Voluntary Early Retirement Scheme(EVERS).
Speaking in Parliament this week, the seasoned and long-serving MP urged Finance Minister Neal Rijikernberg to consider lobbying Cabinet to bring back EVERS saying this will enable willing civil servants to retire early, establish businesses and contribute to economic growth and development.
The suggestion was welcomed by the Finance Minister who stated that, over four thousand(4000) civil servants have already been identified for the re-implementation of EVERS.
Reacting to an article published by this Swaziland News ealier on Wednesday, the Unemployed People’s Movement Coordinator said, this will create more jobs for the unemployed citizens, he thanked the MP for this job creation suggestion.
“SUPMO welcome such a great suggestion from the Mp of Lobamba Lomdzala because this could clearly help in creating jobs, enhancing economic growth and instilling entrepreneurship. Our organization SUPMO has been urging the Government to reduce the retirement age from 60 to 55 years. Our organization has been further urging the Government to stop awarding contract of service to those who have reached retirement age,” he said.
