MBABANE:Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini had a wide interview with a United Nations(UN) Researcher about two(2) weeks ago and the subject of the discussion was a possible independent investigation into the assassination of human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko.

The Researcher contacted the editor for his views as a journalist who widely reported about the assassination on what must be done to investigate the death of the lawyer who was a pro-democracy activist in eSwatini and, to ascertain if the Government is investigating the assassination of the lawyer.

Thulani Maseko, a highly regarded human rights lawyer and Chairperson of the pro-democracy MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF) was killed within the premises of his home and, in front of his wife and children a few hours after King Mswati threatened those calling for democracy saying his mercenaries will deal with them.

The editor told the UN Researcher that, the eSwatini Government cannot be trusted with investigating the death of Thulani Maseko but, a resolution must be taken to allow an international and credible investigation to be conducted by international experts.

“Honestly, my hope for “Justice for Thulani Maseko” was restored after speaking to the UN Researcher, I thought the world has forgotten about Thulani,” said the editor.

On another note, the editor told the UN Researcher that, the eSwatini Government tried to launch a social media propaganda campaign, seeking to divert public opinion into believing that, Thulani Maseko was killed by other comrades “amid fight for donor funds”, the editor maintained that, an international investigation must be allowed to confirm who killed Thulani Maseko.
