Army Commander Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze to visit Siteki Barracks, junior soldiers forced to contribute fifty Rands(R50.00) each for “litiya la-Commander”.

MBABANE:Army Commander Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze is highly expected to visit the Siteki Army Barracks in the next coming few weeks.

As a result, junior soldiers are being forced to contribute fifty Rands(R50.00) each as “litiya la-Commander”, senior soldiers have been ordered to contribute between seventy and one hundred Rands(R70.00-R100.00).

“We are surprised because the Army Commander looted our Burial Fund and now we are forced to contribute money for his gift known as “litiya la-Commander,” said one of the soldiers.

Efforts to reach Commanding Officer  Lieutenant Colonel Gugu Zwane proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report as her cellphone rang unanswered.

Responding to this Swaziland News on Tuesday evening, Army Spokesperson Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo said she will verify facts behind these allegations so that, she could share an informed comment.

“The Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) Public Affairs Office, can only respond subsequent to establishing and ascertaining the underlying facts from the alleged Battalion. As of now, there is nothing official nor has the aggrieved troops forwarded any remonstrance to the UEDF Public Affairs desk in this regard, she said.

It has been disclosed that, Army Commander Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze normally receives between ten thousand Rands(R10,000.00) and twenty thousand Rands(R20,000.00) as “litiya la-Commander” when visiting the various Army Barracks.
