Friday, 28th November, 2025

MBABANE:The United Nations Population Fund(UNFPA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs and the Eswatini National Youth Council, convened a strategic engagement with the Youth Portfolio Committees of both the Senate and the House of Assembly between 27 and 28 November 2025.

As reported by the UNFPA’s online platforms, the consultation focused on the State of the Youth Report and the National Youth Development Bill, both of which are essential to strengthening national efforts that advance young people’s rights, development opportunities and overall wellbeing.

“During the discussions, Senate President Senator Lindiwe Dlamini affirmed Parliament’s commitment to supporting the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs in implementing the recommendations of the forthcoming State of the Youth Report 2025, emphasising the importance of coordinated action for meaningful youth development”, reads the online report in part.

Speaking during the session, UNFPA Head of Office Margaret Thwala-Tembe highlighted UNFPA’s continued partnership in advancing youth empowerment, noting that “as we move forward with the finalisation of the State of the Youth Report 2025, UNFPA reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that young people remain at the centre of development planning”.
