MBABANE:Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, the South African Minister of Electricity and Energy visited the neighboring Eswatini this week to discuss possible ways of assisting the Kingdom have sustainable energy projects.
The South African Electricity Minister met Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini and Natural Resources and Energy Minister Prince Lonkhokhela including Governing Board members of the State owned Eswatini Electricity Company(EEC).
But the South African Electricity Minister’s visit “comes at a time when the Kingdom is busy finalizing logistics to commence the Lubhuku Energy Project” amid efforts to reduce reliance on imported electricity.
The Lubhuku Project seeks to use coal to increase the country’s energy self-sufficiency, Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa was presented with an Eswatini traditional attire among other gifts after the meetings.
