MBABANE:A high level investigation conducted by this Swaziland News has uncovered pictures and videos of emaSwati being forced to work at the Green Chert Malolotja Mine by Michael Lee Enterprises without protective clothing.
The evidence exposing the abuse and gross violation of workers rights, was uncovered in the midst of an investigation into the smuggling of the Green Chert mineral allegedly by Michae Lee, Mines and Minerals Board Chairman Prince Guduza and Steven Huiqiang Hu who was subsequently arrested in China for allegedly smuggling the mineral.
Michael Lee, the Director of Michael Lee Enterprises, a company operating the Malolotja Mine, released a statement vigorously denying these allegations but this publication has been reporting that, the Green Chert mineral worth over R4billion has been impounded in China
Prince Guduza, the Chairman of the Mines and Minerals Board is facing arrest for allegedly assisting the Chinese investors to smuggle the mineral, Michael Lee Enterprises Director Steven Huiqiang Hu is behind bars in China.
Eswatini has about 70% of the population living below the poverty line, the smuggling of the Green Chert comes at a time when the country is facing shortage of drugs in public hospitals.
