MBABANE:OncAura Wellness Centre has been granted a five-year operating licence by the interim Eswatini Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ENRA) to conduct activities involving ionising radiation for medical purposes.
The licence was officially issued on 2 December 2025.
This landmark approval enables OncAura to commence advanced treatment for all types of cancer using its cutting-edge equipment, marking a significant advancement for oncology in Eswatini and across the subregion.
The authorised radiation equipment includes an Elekta Synergy Platform Linear Accelerator, Elekta High Dose Rate Remote After-Loading Brachytherapy system, GE CT Simulators for radiotherapy planning, and sealed Cobalt-60 sources.
With the licence now in place, OncAura has expanded its services to offer a comprehensive oncology programme in Radiotherapy, Brachytherapy and Chemotherapy.
The centre already provides extensive diagnostic services for the most common cancers in Eswatini, including breast, prostate, cervical, lung, and colorectal cancers, among others. It also continues routine screening for prostate, cervical, breast, lung, and colon cancers.
Managing Director Mbongeni Dlamini described the licence as a historic milestone for cancer care in Eswatini and the wider southern African region.
“Our equipment is among the best in the world. This development will make high-quality cancer treatment accessible to emaSwati while positioning Eswatini as a destination for health tourism. We are fully prepared to welcome patients from across the region and beyond,” said the MD.
Chief Operations Officer for Radiotherapy Services, Lindiwe Fokazi, confirmed that the centre is now accepting bookings.
“Patients can schedule appointments by calling 7802 9604 or emailing info@srs.co.sz. We are ready to deliver complete radiotherapy and chemotherapy services immediately.”
The centre’s multidisciplinary team includes radiation oncologists, radiologists, radiographers, and a urologist, all of whom are in place to begin treatment without delay.
Prime Minister Russell Nxumalo recently toured the facility to assess its readiness. During the visit, he met the specialist team and was briefed on the centre’s capabilities.
The MD told the Prime Minister that OncAura represents a transformative step forward for healthcare in Eswatini.
“Our expert team is committed to holistic care that addresses medical, emotional, and wellness needs of patients and their families,” he said.
The centre will provide advanced radiology, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and complimentary screening programmes for emaSwati and visitors from other African countries.
