MBABANE:Incarcerated former Hosea Member of Parliament(MP) Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza and a family member allegedly spent over R8million paying lawyers and Advocates for released former lawmaker Mthandeni Dube.
But ex-MP Bacede Mabuza is currently locked inside Matsapha Prison after refusing to apologize to King Mswati, an absolute Monarch.
“Over R8million was spent on legal fees but we didn’t publicize it because we were just assisting, it might a story to you but to us it’s not,” said one of the family members.
A legal bill seen by this Swaziland News suggests that, Mabuza started assisting Dube when the case was handled by the late lawyer Thulani Maseko, South African Advocates were subsequently engaged to assist but Judge Mumcy Dlamini who was allegedly acting on a royal order to convict the then MPs, dismissed all applicants seeking to convince the court to acquit the former Members of Parliament who were arrested merely for demanding democracy.
On another note, the United Nations Human Rights Council(UNHRC) Working Group has ‘ordered’ the Eswatini Government to release the ex-MPs but “the regime released Dube after tricking him to apologise while Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza remains behind bars”.
