Friday, 5th December, 2025

MBABANE:Thulisile Dladla, the Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) has called upon all stakeholders to assist in developing policies to improve the lives of persons with disabilities.

The DPM was speaking at the Mavuso Trade Centre this week and this was during the International Disability Day.

“As the government of Eswatini, we commit today to accelerate implementation of the National Disability Plan of Action and to convene a cross-sectoral review within the coming months to identify gaps and fast-track interventions. I invite parliament, the private sector, development partners and civil society to join this effort and to put the rights and potential of persons with disabilities at the centre of our national development agenda,” said  the DPM as quoted by Government online platforms.

On another note, the DPM said the International Disability Day should not be a mere celebration but a reminder of the need for practical action “that seeks to improve” the lives of persons with disabilities.

“I call on all of us leaders and citizens alike to make this international day more than a day of recognition. Let it be the day we redouble our commitment to concrete action. Let it be the day that marks measurable progress in access, opportunity and dignity for persons with disabilities in Eswatini,” said the DPM.
