MBABANE:Major General Thembinkhosi Mngomezulu, the Head of the Royal Guard told soldiers at Phocweni Army Barracks that he will use the profits generated by the Grocery Shop within the Barracks to pay Army Commander Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze’s “litiya la-Commander”.
The Army Commander is allegedly paid between ten and twenty thousand Rands(R20,000.00) as a gift merely for visiting the various Army Barracks across the country, the gift is ‘referenced’ as “litiya la-Commander”.
A questionnaire was sent to newly appointed Army Spokesperson Major Sandile Gwebu, however, he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Army Commander Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze is currently forces soldiers to contribute between fifty to five hundred Rands(R50.00-R500.00) depending on seniority within the Army.
The Phocweni Army Barracks Commander and Head of Royal Guard pledged to pay from the profits of the Grocery Shop after soldiers stated that, they won’t contribute for “litiya la-Commander” accusing Mashikilisane Fakudze of failing to convince Government to increase their salaries.
