MBABANE:Major Sandile Gwebu, the newly appointed Army Spokesperson and former Chairman of Hlalawati Savings and Cooperatives allegedly used over R1million soldiers’ savings paying Army Commander Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze’s “litiya la-Commander”.
The money as per information gathered by this Swaziland News, was allegedly approved and paid by Major Gwebu who was subsequently promoted from the position of Captain to Major before being appointed as the Army Spokesperson.
But Fakudze was allegedly receiving five thousand Rands (R5,000.00) per-week and other additional monies and as a result, the amount accumulated to over R1million for the past years.
It has been disclosed that, even after Major Gwebu’s term of office as Halawati Savings Cooperatives Chairman expired, Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze continued to receive “litiya” as Gwebu made it a ‘policy’ that the Army Commander must receive R5,000.00 per-week as a gift.
The Army Spokesperson declined to comment about the corruption within the soldiers’s Savings Scheme.
