MBABANE:Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini will receive security funding for the beginning of 2026 from an international human rights organization.

The editor applied for the funding after receiving threats from Army Commander Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze and subjected to insults and threats on social media for doing his job as a journalist.

Dlamini motivated his application for the funding by stating that, some of the insults and threats both from the Tinkhundla regime and social media seeks to undermine his independence as a journalist as “he does not want to be controlled by both the Government and the progressives”.

The human rights organization informed Dlamini on Thursday that, “his security funding for the beginning of year-2026 is being processed”.

On another note, international donors have pumped-in about R5million in support of the Swaziland News since the establishment of this independent online publication in 2018.

As a result of the international support, the Swaziland News has grown to be an international player in the media industry.
