MBABANE:Percy Simelane, the King’s Spokesperson, says the Malaysian training in Public Relations assisted him to fully understand that, “his position is not just a job but, a sensitive national responsibility”.

Responding to this Swaziland News this week when asked how he “has been managing to handle independent journalists or those critical of the Monarchy,” the King’s Spokesperson said, he was mentored by a person who was advising Heads of State.

“It's not necessarily about me having developed a pig’s skin against criticism but believing in myself unflinching and understanding that being the Director Information and Communication in the King’s Office is not a job but a sensitive national responsibility where maturity and level-headedness must be projected all the time,” he said.

On another note, Simelane described some of those attacking him for responding to this Swaziland News as “streets journalists”, he maintained that it would have been a worse mistake for him to take advise from streets and/or cub reporters.

“Secondly I have reasons to believe in the person who mentored me in Malaysia more than in any street advisor or cub reporter because I learnt he was responsible for advising Heads of State on Government communication in more than 100 countries. There is no way I could replace what he taught me to do with untested advice. It would not make sense to any normal thinking person. Last but not least, going into a battle of wits with unarmed individuals is not my kind of fun. I believe real tigers do not lose any sleep over decisions made against it by goats, wolves, monkeys or skunks. I trust God shall continue to be on his feet for me as I pull myself together to deliver in the best interest of the country,” said the King’s Spokesperson.
