“Legally, there’s nothing wrong with the case being referred to Pigg’s Peak as an area of jurisdiction for investigation purposes, however, junior officers cannot investigate their boss, instead they will conceal evidence and sabotage the case. This then goes back to what we have been saying that we need an independent body that will investigate and arrest police officers who are accused of wrong doing in their line of duty” ,said the human rights lawyer.
A questionnaire was sent to Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson, however, she had not responded at the time of compiling this report .
Speaking to this Swaziland News, Sibongile Mazibuko, the NNLC President confirmed that Mbabane Police told him the case has been reffered to Pigg’s Peak for investigation purposes.
