Times editor and top journalist Mbongseni Ndzimandze who investigated ‘Cat Matlala’ alleged fraudulent ID story wins all major awards in Eswatini Media Awards, walks away with cash and gadgets worth over R50,000.00.

MBABANE:Times News editor and top journalist Mbongseni Ndzimandze won almost all major awards during the Eswatini Media Awards held on Monday night at the Royal Villas-Ezulwini.

Ndzimandze who investigated the “South African alleged crime boss Vusumuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala alleged Eswatini fraudulent Identity Document (ID) won the Investigative Journalist of the Year, Journalist of the Year and Print Story of the Year Awards.

The award winning ‘Cat Matlala’ story investigated by Ndzimandze went on to dominate the South African press and became a subject of investigation during the ongoing Parliament ad hoc Committee probe into allegations of political interference in the operations of the South African Police Service.

The Media Awards event was graced by Cabinet Ministers and Parliamentarians including Information Minister Savannah Maziya, Youth Minister Bongani Nzima and Senator Princess Ncengencenge among other high profile people.

Ndzimandze won twenty-seven thousand, five hundred Rands (R27,500.00 including an Apple MacBook and iPad for his outstanding journalism work, the collective prizes are worth over fifty thousand Rands (R50,000.00).
