MBABANE:Percy Simelane, the King’s Spokesperson says the Monarch “welcomes everyone to attend Incwala ceremony at Ludzidzini Palace”.
Responding to this Swaziland News on Friday when asked to clarify the Correctional Services’ decision to release inmates to attend Incwala ceremony, the Spokesperson said “Incwala is for everyone adding that, the King never objected” to anyone willing to attend.
“The end of year sacred Incwala ceremony is traditionally for everyone to participate. We have no record of the King objecting to some participants. How inmates are allowed to occasionally participate in National events rests with Commissioner General and the Correctional Services Executive Command,” said the King’s Spokesperson.
Former Public Works and Transport Minister Ntuntuko Dlamini who was convicted of shooting and killing members of the Luyengweni Inner Council is attending this year’s Incwala ceremony.
The decision by the Correctional Services to allow Dlamini to attend Incwala triggered public criticism the Correctional Services.
