MBABANE:Elias Magosi, the Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) met Colonel Michael Randrianirina, the President of Madagascar at the Presidential Office in Antananarivo.
“The meeting reaffirmed SADC’s continued engagement with Madagascar and focused on key regional priorities, including regional integration, infrastructure development, climate change, peace and security, and economic transformation,” SADC said in a statement released on Tuesday.
But the meeting between SADC and the new Madagascar military leaders appears to demonstrate recognition by the regional body however, the regional body clarified in the same statement that Madagascar national transition was discussed.
“The Executive Secretary and the President exchanged views on Madagascar’s national transition, including the ongoing inclusive national dialogue process aimed at constitutional reforms and the organisation of future elections,” reads the statement in part.
