MBABANE:Bheki Mamba, the President of the Trade Union Congress of Swaziland (TUCOSWA) told the Eswatini Energy Regulatory Authority (ESERA) that emaSwati including workers cannot afford expensive electricity.
Mamba made his submission on Saturday at The George Hotel during the ongoing public consultations ahead of the electricity increase as per an application filed by the Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) before the regulator-ESERA, he demanded a presentation detailing how will emaSwati afford the electricity increase.
“Workers are earning low salaries so we would appreciate a presentation detailing if emaSwati including workers will afford the electricity increase,” he said.
The TUCOSWA President further complained about the refusal by Government to increase elderly grants adding that, electricity increase will affect even the elderly.
