MBABANE: Mlungisi Khumalo, the 8bet Legal Advisor has confirmed a request by a customer of the gambling company to be blocked after declaring uncontrollable addiction to gambling.

This comes after the customer sent to Swaziland News, an electronic recording of a conversation between her and an 8bet employee where it was agreed that, she will be blocked as per her own request.

“We can confirm that she requested to be blocked but, she subsequently contacted another employee, vigorously requesting to be unblocked until, the company decided to unblock her. But now after you contacted us, they permanently blocked her,” said the Legal Advisor when responding to this publication this week.

On another note, the customer who asked to remain anonymous in fear of being stigmatized, told this publication that, she used to win at 8bet until she became addicted to gambling.

“But after losing several times, I decided to stop and request them to block me. Recently, they unblocked me and I gambled in an attempt to generate school fees money after remembering that I used to win. I recently lost twenty-five thousand Rands (R25,000.00)”, she said.

But the Legal Advisor maintained that, the gambling company blocked the customer as per her own request but, she requested to be unblocked again, lawyer Mlungisi Khumalo expressed the company’s commitment to promoting responsible gambling.
