MBABANE: Vukani BoMake, founded by Far East Textile Director Tokky Hou partnered with Business Eswatini and the Coca-Cola Swaziland (CONCO) Limited in renovating the Mbabane Government Hospital Emergency Ward.
Hou is a prominent Eswatini textile manufacturer, she founded the Vukani BoMake project, an initiative empowering rural women by turning textile waste into products.
As CEO of Far East Textiles and Chairperson of Business Women Eswatini, she has established numerous "cottage factories" seeking to promote sustainability and create income for women, youth and people with disabilities, Vukani BoMake contributed curtains for the Emergency Ward renovation project.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Tuesday, the Vukani BoMake founder said, the curtains were manufactured by women who are members of the women organization while some work at Far East Textile.
“As Vukani BoMake, we were very happy to partner with CONCO and Business Eswatini in contributing positively to the country’s heath system”, she said.
Responding to this publication, Business Eswatini Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nathie E. Dlamini said the handover of the renovated Emergency Ward will remain a radiant symbol of what an collaboration between Government and the private sector could achieve.
“Equally inspiring is the involvement of Vukani BoMake, an initiative of Business Women Eswatini. Their contribution of beautiful, handcrafted curtains is a powerful testament to women’s entrepreneurship and skill. This tells a story of economic empowerment, where local talent directly enhances national well-being. This collaboration between a major corporate member and our dynamic women entrepreneurs perfectly illustrates how the private sector cares for the lives emaSwati. It shows how business growth and social responsibility are interwoven, creating a cycle of meaningful impact that strengthens both our communities and our economy,” said the Business Eswatini CEO.
On another note, Dlamini said “Business Eswatini is honoured to be at the heart of such partnerships” adding that, the upgrading of the Emergency Ward acts as an example and creating a path for future collaborations.
“This upgraded Ward is not an isolated act, but a vibrant example of the many ways in which our members actively build a healthier, more resilient Eswatini. Together, we are not just doing business; we are building a nation where every life is valued and every community can thrive,” said the Business Eswatini CEO.
