MBABANE: Professor Paul Yang, the Vice Chancellor of the Eswatini Christian Medical University (EMCU) has released a memo, stopping a planned workers’ trip to Badplaas-South African this week amid abuse of public funds, fraud and corruption allegations within the institution of higher learning.

“The VC was informed that some employees, including the Head of Department (HoD), will be going to a resort in Baadplas from Thursday to Friday this week (January 29-30.). This trip was not discussed at all with Management, nor was it authorized by the VC. If you participate to the trip, all details regarding the trip will be reported to the Parliament Select Committee. We hope that you will not be disadvantaged by participating in this trip. As you are already aware, the Select Committee is currently investigating financial irregularities at EMCU”, reads the memo in part.

Efforts to seek a comment from the Vice Chancellor proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

On another note, the Parliament mandated a select Committee to investigate allegations of financial irregularities within the institution of higher learning.
