UNDP Eswatini applauds UNESWA and One Billion Rising on recently held “ending Gender Based Violence (GBV) Festival”.

KWALUSENI: The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has applauded One Billion Rising and the University of Eswatini (UNESWA) after the successful hosting of the “One Billion Rising Ending Gender Based Violence (GBV) Festival”.

In an online statement released on Monday, the UN agency expressed full support for One Billion Rising consistent agenda in the country to end GBV.

“Over the weekend, members of the United Nations family joined Government, development partners, civil society, artists, students, and community members at the University of Eswatini for the One Billion Rising Eswatini Festival, marking 14 years of the global movement to end gender-based violence (GBV). Convened by One Billion Rising Eswatini  in partnership with the University of Eswatini, the festival was a powerful call to action in a context where GBV remains widespread and deeply concerning,” reads the statement in part.

Inkhosikati Nothando Hlophe, Kwaluseni Member of Parliament (MP) Sifiso Shongwe and other high profile people graced the event.
