MBABANE: Nonhlanhla Dlamini, the Executive Director of the Eswatini Action Group Against Abuse (SWAGAA) has called for the arrest of more women, falsely accusing men of rape.
Dlamini was reacting to a case of a woman who appeared before Principal Magistrate Fikile Nhlabatsi this week, she was arrested by the police for lying that her boyfriend raped her and after conducting investigations, the cops discovered that the woman was actually lying and subsequently charged her for recording a “false statement which is a criminal offense in terms of the Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Act (SODOV).
“We hereby apologize to the man who was falsely accused and applaud the police for being fair when investigating the matter because the man was almost arrested for an offense he never committed. Women who falsely accuse men of rape must be arrested,” said the SWAGAA Director when speaking to this Swaziland News on Wednesday.
On another note, the SWAGAA Director maintained that “rape remains a serious offense and therefore , no man must be falsely accused as such undermines the efforts by the law enforcement agencies to protect women from rape.
