MANZINI: Eswatini Bank confirms that an incident occurred at the Manzini Branch in the early hours of Monday, 09 February 2026. 

In a statement released on Thursday, the bank said the matter “is under active investigation by the Royal Eswatini Police Service” and the financial institution has been fully cooperating.

“It is of paramount importance to us as a bank to fully establish the facts and get answers to ensure that appropriate action is taken and that those responsible are brought to justice. An estimated E1.6 million was taken during the incident. The Bank’s internal verification processes are ongoing. We have also established that the cash taken was accessed through the bank’s ATMs at the branch. However, our vaults were left untouched due to the controls and security measures in place. In addition, our systems and customer accounts have not been compromised.

The Bank remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of security to ensure the safety of customers' funds. We would therefore like to assure all our customers and stakeholders that their funds remain safe and secure. Manzini branch will resume operations within the next few days. 

“We thank our customers, the police, all stakeholders and the public for their patience and understanding as the investigation progresses,” reads the statement in part.
