MBABANE: Brigadier General Mthiza Dlamini, the newly appointed Eswatini United States (US) based Embassy Defense Attaché has appointed his wife 1st Lieutenant Baphetsile Malindzisa as his Personal Secretary (PA).
An independent investigation conducted by this Swaziland News has uncovered that, Army Commander Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze facilitated the appointment of Brigadier Mthiza Dlamini who is his right-hand man, as the country’s US based Defense Attaché and after learning that the position comes with benefits including the employment of a PA, Brigadier Dlamini subsequently awarded the position to his wife so that, more money could circulate within and benefit the family.
Worth-noting, the Defense Attaché position comes with a salary for the wife and this means, 1st Lieutenant Baphetsile Malindzisa is now earning three (3) salaries as a soldier in Eswatini, wife to Brigadier Mthiza Dlamini and as her husband’s Personal Secretary, both of them are now based in the United States, working in Eswatini Embassy.
Army Spokesperson Major Sandile Gwebu had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
On another note, Brigadier General Mthiza Dlamini who colluded with the Army Commander to mastermind this corruption, holds the position of Director - Foreign Relations in the military.
Corruption is escalating within the military under Army Commander Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze’s administration, the corruption has divided the Executive Command of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force (UEDF).
