MBABANE: The warrant of arrest recently dismissed by Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala and filed by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), involves Dr Simon Zwane, the then Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Health now PS in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
The ACC accused Dr Zwane and others of colluding or assisting businessman SwaziPharm Director Kareem Ashraff in looting millions of public funds resulting in the shortage of drugs in public hospitals but, the CJ dismissed the application citing lack of evidence and the matter involving the alleged un-delivered Antiretroviral (ARVs) is now before the Supreme Court.
But businessman Kareem Ashraff when clarifying these allegations after being approached by this Swaziland News, vigorously denied looting public funds, he maintained that his company AvaPharm (Pty) Ltd delivered the drugs and “has evidence to substantiate that indeed the drugs were delivered to Government”.
On another note, King Mswati ordered the Eswatini Government to ensure that, “the health crisis comes to an end as a matter of urgency”.
The Supreme Court is highly expected to analyze the evidence and make a ruling on the application filed by the Anti Corruption Commission in collaboration with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
