MBABANE: Nomahlubi Matiwane, the Acting Managing Director of the Eswatini Water Services Corporation (ESWC) has announced the implementation of a $59.2million (about R1billion) Eswatini Water Supply and Sanitation Access Project (EWSSAP) project funded through a loan secured from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) of the World Bank.

Addressing a press conference last week, the Acting Managing Director said $53million will be provided by the World Bank while $6.2million will contributed by the Government of Eswatini.

Matiwane said the project seeks to ensure water security in the Shiselweni Region, providing potable water for domestic, institutional and commercial consumption.

The Acting Managing Director further said the project will ensure the provision of sustainable sanitation while improving resilience in water management and drought preparedness.
