MBABANE: Shawn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize’s Mbabane Highlanders AM has been formally charged, following the violence that erupted at the Mavuso Sports Centre during the team’s Ingwenyama Cup game with Nsingizini Hot Spurs on Sunday.
Mkhize told this Swaziland News earlier that, the football team will soon issue a statement after receiving a formal report from the Premier League of Eswatini.
But as per a letter dated 24th February 2026 served to Mbabane Highlanders, the football team is highly expected to appear before the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Disciplinary Committee on Thursday.
Efforts to seek a comment from the Football Association Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngomezulu proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
The unusual violence that erupted during Ingwenyama Cup resulting to fans assaulting a referee, has been condemned both by the sponsor, the Sincemphetelo Motor Vehicle Accisent Fund (SMVAF) and the Premier League of Eswatini.
