MBABANE: Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has been once again, implicated in alleged corruption by the Office of the Auditor General (AG), he allegedly paid over R1million to BBQ (Pty) Ltd for two (2) Television (TV) sets amid rampant looting in the public administration.
This is contained in the latest report of the Auditor General (AG) Timothy Matsebula delivered to Finance Minister Neal Rijikernberg on Thursday, the report calls for an internal investigation into the purchasing of the TV sets.
“I reported that the Private and Cabinet Office paid a significant overpriced amount of E1,267,200.00 for two SAMSUNG 75” OLED 4K SMART SCREENS to BBQ (Pty) Ltd through voucher 090052. The market price for this item is currently between R13,999.00 and E59,999.00 at local suppliers,” reads the audit report in part.
Acting Government Spokesperson Thabile Mdluli had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
On another note, the Auditor General recommended an internal investigation into the purchasing of the TV sets to recover public funds, the report was tabled and will be debated by Parliament.
